Contributed by the Inter-Council Network (ICN), in partnership with the Canadian Council for International Cooperation (CCIC):

2015 is an important and exciting year for several big reasons. The new Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs), which succeed the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), will challenge the world to do better on urgent global issues. World leaders will forge a universal, legally-binding climate deal that must be strong enough to avert global environmental catastrophe. On its 20th birthday, the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action on Women’s Rights will be reviewed and governments will be called upon to recommit to its full implementation. And of course, Canadians will go to the polls in a crucial federal election.

In response, the Canadian Council for International Co-operation (CCIC) and its members have launched a campaign, We Can Do Better 2015. Together, CCIC and its members, including the Inter-Council Network of Provincial and Regional Councils for International Cooperation (ICN) are asking Canada and Canadians to provide leadership to address the great challenges of our time and to @dobetter2015 on:

  • Climate change and environmental sustainability
  • Inequality and human rights
  • Women’s rights and gender equality

CCIC and the ICN are collaborating to amplify our voice and our asks. And we believe that the work of your organization is linked with at least one of these three issues and that you will see the value of joining the campaign as well!

If you want to hear more about this exciting campaign, check out our webinar, delivered on May 20th 2015 to find out how you can get involved, and how a commitment from all of us can make waves! Imagine what a force we will be united behind a common message!
